COURSE OBJECTIVES
XML is the first wave of next-generation Web technologies. Platform-independent and self-sufficient, XML pages, once built, can be interpreted by many applications. In addition, XML makes your data accessible to a wide range of dynamic effects. At InfoWorld's CTO Forum last May, CTOs agreed that
XML is a primary standard for e-commerce
and a key e-business enabler.
Students will learn how Web developers can write their own tags (not being restricted by the tags defined in the HTML specifications), that can cover any number of flexible purposes. Developers can then specify how the tags are interpreted through Document Type Definition (DTDs) documents, and how they are displayed on the Web with eXtensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) documents.
