Program Overview
This program was designed for students new to Linux or Unix, and introduces you to the fundamentals of the Red Hat 9.x version of the Linux operating system. Upon completion, you will be thoroughly familiar with the origins, benefits, drawbacks, and uses of Linux. Hands-on lessons guide you through the ins and outs of installation, file and user management, editing and printing files, and the X Windows environment.

CNET 201-9A (Linux Workstation)

In this course you will be asked to master the process of the workstation installation, create and configure users and groups, and manage file systems and rights to files and directories. You'll also become qualified to create and modify files using Linux text editors, manage file printing, work in and configure the
X Window environment, and to properly boot up and shutdown your Linux workstation. You will be given the opportunity to test your knowledge with quizzes given after each course module.
CNET 201-9B (Linux Server)

In this second part of the Unix Fundamentals with Red Hat Linux program, we will focus on the Red Hat 9.x version of Linux Server. You will be asked
to master the process of turning your system into a Linux server, invoke shells and create and run shell scripts, use aliases and functions, create and manage users and groups, and utilize Linux's multitasking capabilities.
You'll also become qualified to use
database programming commands, archive files, update packages using ftp and RPM, access class servers, and implement mail services. You will be given the opportunity to test your knowledge with quizzes given after each course module. Upon completion, you will be thoroughly familiar with the basic functions and uses of Linux Server. Hands-on lessons guide you through the process of installation, managing files, users, and groups, and implementing email services.
CNET 201-9C (Linux Advanced Server)

In the third part of the Unix Fundamentals with Red Hat Linux program, we will focus on advanced features and uses of Red Hat Linux Server 9.x. You will be asked to master the process custom installation, using RPM to manage packages, access resources on other systems, install and configure NFS, integrate with other platforms, and configure
xinetd, DNS, and TCP/IP network administration.
You'll also become qualified to examine system scripts and configure cron, manage the kernel, and configure boot options and the X Server. Lastly, you will become proficient implementing and administering security measures, and installing and configuring
Apache Web Server, virtual hosts, mail service, DNS, and DHCP. Upon completion, you will be thoroughly familiar with the more complex functions and uses of Linux Server. Hands-on lessons guide you through the process of a custom installation, using
RPM and NFS, integration with other platforms, and administering security issues.
